Mike Burkhold is a lifelong South Carolinian, raised in Chapin, who knows our state’s promise and its pain. Married 30 years with two children, he’s a St. Andrew’s Church member living on Sullivan’s Island, grounded in conservative values. A College of Charleston graduate, Mike founded Equiscript in 2009 from his living room, growing it to millions by mastering complex healthcare data—tracking millions of transactions with precision. Equiscript made the INC. 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in the US for 5 years in a row, was one of SC 25 Fastest Growing Companies 3 years in a row and recognized as one of the Best Places to work in SC and nationally by Modern Healthcare.

Mike ran as the Republican nominee for South Carolina’s 5th District in 1998, raising $779,000 (today’s dollars) and winning 64,626 votes against a 16-year Democrat incumbent. His door-to-door fight rallied York County, proving he’s a conservative warrior. '98 was a difficult year for Republicans in SC with incumbent David Beasley loosing his re-election to Jim Hodges. Now, he’s running for Comptroller General to fix our broken budget—$3.5 billion errors (2023), crumbling roads costing $564 per person yearly, and schools ranking 42nd in the country.
